Movement Principle in Tai Chi

One Principle, Three Techniques.CHEN XIAOWANG

The governing principle for moving the body in Taijiquan (Tai Chi) is: Dantian moves, and the hands follows. The actual meaning of the phrase is that the Dantian leads the movement, and the whole body follows it. The Dantian is a small region about three inches below the navel, which center is inside the body, not on the skin. For the purpose of concentrating during Taijiquan (Tai Chi), you can imagine it one inch into the belly.
The three Taijiquan (Tai Chi) techniques Chen Xiaowang refers to are: moving the Dantian on the coronal plane, moving the Dantian on the sagital plane, and moving the dantian in these two planes a the same time, which results in moving freely in the space. This is reflect in Chen Xiaowang’s didactic of Silk Reeling Qigong.
